The CMASA national board conference was held successfully in December 2021, and the new Board and State Committee members of CMASA have been elected. Dr. Kang Zhou, former president of CMASA Vic, has been elected as the 13th president of the CMASA with four years of the term of office.

All of CMASA national committee members extend warm congratulations to Dr. Zhou, and expect our association is trading its way to a prosperous future under his leadership. Also, they express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Yu Wu for his great contribution and achievement in last two years.

The first conference of the 13th CMASA national board was held on 9 January. President Zhou gave a presentation and organized tasks for the following years.

The academic workshop on COVID-19 was offered on 17th January. The guideline of combating the epidemic with traditional Chinese medicine will be issued among CMASA members to help their self-protection, provide information and advices to the public.

The NSW government released the updated Public Health (covid-19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order (NO 3) 2021.

The intension of the Public Health Order for members appears clear: all modalities would fall within the definition of Stage 2 health care worker and and are subject to this NSW government vaccine mandate to work. Clause 8 of the Pubic Health Order states:

  1. Stage 2 health care workers not to work unvaccinated
  • A stage 2 health care worker must not do work as a health care worker on or after –
    • 31 January 2022 unless the worker has received at least 1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and
    • 28 February 2022 unless the worker has received at least 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

A reminder for the course of Miraculous Pivot

The course is the main approach provided by CMASA NSW for Chinese medicine practitioners to improve clinical skills, systemically form Chinese medicine principle, solve issues during practice, increase incomes, develop Chinese medicine, and built TCM reputation. After the successful completion of two semesters, the semester 3 is around the corner.

  1. The course dates are 24th January, 21st February, 21st March, 25th 7.30 pm
  2. Put emphasis on the quality of the teaching and the effects of the learning, improve clinical technology by further understanding the basic theories
  3. Practice Demo via Zoom is from Lesson Anyone who are interested can go, experience it and practise at premises.

A Trip for Going Back to Tradition and Searching for Roots – Neijing Study 2022 (Semester 1)

The registration is open for CMASA members and non-members. The purpose of the course is to study the complicate theories of Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor and investigate the approaches of its instruction to clinical practice. The course rules include investigating through Inner Cannon of the Yellow Emperor, further understanding eighty-one chapters of the section of the Neijing known as the Suwen, and equipping our members with the theoretical foundation of Chinese medicine.

One class every two to three weeks, one to two chapters each class, total four classes

Speaker: Dr. Jinfeng Wu

Dr. Wu graduated as a medical student in 1978, and achieved a doctorate degree from Guangzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine University. He was the 1st president of CMASA Vic and is the present president, deputy president of WFCMS in Hypertension and Pain, and the honorary president of Hong Kong Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Topic: What is the relationship between Chinese herbs and Traditional Chinese medicine? How to learn basic knowledge by comparing herbs in different functions?

Speaker: Dr. Kang Zhou

Dr. Zhou has been working in Chinese medicine over thirty years, and makes contributions in clinical teaching in Chinese Medicine Department of RMIT University. He is the General- Secretary of World Federation of Huang’s Medicine Inc and deputy president of CMASA

Vic. He will give a presentation on Chinese herb’s roles and their differences in certain functions.

  • Topic: Diagnosis and Therapy of Pain in Knees Speaker: Qingju Wang

Dr. Wang graduated from the School of Sports Medicine and Health at Chengdu Sport University in 1997, and achieved PhD of Sports medicine at Jyvaskyla University in Finland in 2005. He worked at Sichuan Province of Orthopaedic Hospital up to 2001. His interests major in facture and dislocation, sports injuries, and cervical-shoulder and lumbodorsal pain. He has been working in Chinese medicine since 2010 after finishing his medical research at Melbourne University.
